White Gloves, to Dye a Good Purple

Ingredients

• 4 ozs. of logwood
• 2 ozs. of roche alum
• 3 pints of soft water
• the white of an egg

Method

1. 1

   Boil logwood and roche alum in soft water until half wasted.

   Strain and cool.

   Rub the gloves over with a brush, and when dry, repeat.

   Rub off loose dye with a coarse cloth, then beat up the white of an egg and rub it over the leather.
