Ingredients

• a can of fine tomatoes
• butter
• thin slices of stale white bread
• a peeled mushroom
• pepper if your taste demands it

Method

   Cook and flavor the tomatoes with pepper, salt, and butter.

   Toast the bread, butter it, cover with the stewed tomatoes, and lay a peeled mushroom on top.

   Butter the mushrooms and sprinkle with pepper.
