1 teaspoon baking powder chopped fine 3 crackers rolled fine 1 cup sugar Pinch of salt 1 cup chopped nuts 1 teaspoon vanilla Vz cup milk Bake in buttered pan for about 20 minutes. Have oven at a moder- ate heat. Serve hot. Mrs. Wm. M. Dey. PRUNE WHIP 2/3 cup stewed prunes, % cup sugar pitted Vz tablespoon lemon juice 5 egg whites V& teaspoon salt Grind stewed prunes in meat grinder. Add sugar. Beat egg whites until stiff, to which you have added salt. After mixture is cold fold in beaten whites, then add lemon juice. Pile lightly in baking dish. Put baking dish in pan of simmering water on stove. Simmer for Vz an hour. Put in slow oven and complete baking. Mary Henderson. STEAMED PUDDING 3 tablespoons butter % teaspoon each, salt, Vz cup molasses cloves, allspice, Vz cup milk nutmeg 1 2/3 cup flour Vz teaspoon soda Vz lb. dates cut in small pieces Melt butter, add molasses, milk, and dry ingredients mixed and sifted.
