Taffy

Ingredients

• 2 lbs. of brown sugar
• half a cup of water
• 4 ozs. of butter

Method

   Put brown sugar and water in a kettle to boil; add butter.

   Boil until thick (not hard); flavor with lemon; pour into well-buttered tins about an eighth of an inch thick.

   When cool, mark off into squares; press nearly through to the bottom.

   When hard and cold, tap to loosen and break apart.
