Sweet Toasts

Ingredients

• some nice light bread
• about half an inch thick
• three well-beaten eggs
• a little mace
• grated lemon-peel
• sugar
• quarter of a pint of cream
• some butter

Method

   Cut and toast the bread, dip in cream or milk.

   Lay on a dish, pour a mixture of beaten eggs, mace, lemon-peel, sugar, and cream over each slice.

   Fry in butter until light brown, sift sugar over, and serve with sweet sauce.

Sweet Toasts. Cut some slices of nice light bread, without the crusts, and about half an inch thick ; toast them a little and dip them in cream or new milk ; lay them separately on a flat dish ; to three well-beaten eggs, add a little mace, grated lemon-peel, sugar, and quarter of a pint of cream; pour a little of it on each toast wth a tea-spoon.
