Steamed Beans

Ingredients

• half a saltspoon of soda
• plain butter or thin drawn butter
• a mere suspicion of sugar

Method

1. 1

   Cut the beans carefully into thin uniform slices or slit them lengthwise.

   Boil in well salted fast boiling water with half a saltspoon of soda for twenty to twenty-five minutes.

3. 3

   Serve with plain butter or thin drawn butter with a suspicion of sugar.
