Spiced Pears or Peaches

Ingredients

• 1 peck pears or peaches
• 5 lbs. granulated sugar
• 1 quart white wine vinegar
• season to taste

Method

   Boil sugar and vinegar for 5 minutes and pour over the fruit.

   Let it stand for 24 hours, then drain off the liquid and bring it to a boil again and pour over fruit, keeping a weight on to keep fruit under liquid.

   Then put juice and fruit on until fruit is tender, and bottle.
