Spice Seedlings

Ingredients

• a half pint each butter
• granulated sugar
• a quart of flour
• a half nutmeg grated
• two tablespoons caraway seed
• a level tablespoon powdered cinnamon
• a half gill each of milk
• a half gill each of rose water
• cold water enough to make a stiff dough

Method

   Cream the butter and sugar, then add the flour, nutmeg, caraway seed, cinnamon, milk, rose water, and enough cold water to make a stiff dough.

   Roll out in sheets a quarter of an inch thick, cut with a small cake-cutter, and bake in a quick oven to a delicate brown.
