Snuff Brown Dye

Ingredients

• For five pounds goods
• camwood, one pound
• fustic, two and one-half pounds
• blue vitriol, one ounce
• copperas, four ounces

Method

1. 1

   Boil camwood for fifteen minutes, then dip goods for three-fourths hour; take out goods, add fustic to the dye, boil ten minutes and dip goods for three-fourths hour; then add blue vitriol, dip again for one-half hour.

   If not dark enough, add more copperas.
