Snuff Brown Dark Dye

Ingredients

• five pounds of goods
• camwood one pound
• two and one-half pounds fustic
• blue vitriol one ounce
• copperas four ounces

Method

1. 1

   Boil camwood for fifteen minutes, then dip the goods for three-fourths of an hour.

   Remove and add fustic, boil for ten minutes, and dip again for three-fourths of an hour.

   Add blue vitriol and copperas, then dip for another half hour.

   If not dark enough, add more copperas.
