Shrewsbury Cakes

Ingredients

• Quarter of a pound of Butter
• Quarter of a pound of castor Sugar
• Eight ounces of Flour
• One teaspoonful of grated Lemon-rind
• One Egg

Method

   Beat the butter and sugar to a cream, add the egg and lemon-rind, stir in the flour smoothly.

   Roll out thinly and cut into rounds with a floured wine-glass.

   Bake for twenty minutes.
