Seed Cake

Ingredients

• Half a pound of Flour
• Two ounces of Sugar
• One teaspoonful of Baking-powder
• One teaspoonful of Carraway Seeds
• Three ounces of clarified Dripping
• One gill of Milk
• One Egg
• Salt

Method

1. 1

   Put the flour into a basin, rub in the dripping until lump-free; add sugar, baking-powder, and carraway seeds.

   Beat the egg with the milk, pour into the mixture, and mix into a stiff paste.

   Put into a greased tin and bake for one hour.

4. 4

   Check doneness with a knife.
