Scotch Scones

Ingredients

• half a saltspoonful of soda
• two ounces of butter or lard
• a gill of warmed sour milk
• ten ounces of flour
• a little salt

Method

   Dissolve soda and butter in warmed sour milk.

   Combine with flour and salt to form a stiff dough.

   Roll out to half an inch thick, mark into sections, and bake on a griddle for 15-20 minutes.

   Split and butter while hot.
