SCONES: be emeeSe SGONES. INGREDIENTS — 8oz. Self-Raising Flour 4oz. Grated Cheese 20z. Lard Pepper and Salt to taste 20z. Margarine Small quantity of Milk to mix Rub the lard and margarine into the flour, add grated cheese, and pepper and salt, mix to a stiff dough with milk. Roll out to the required thickness and cut into rounds, baking same in a hot oven until golden brown on both sides. Warm before serving, The above quantities will make approximately 20 scones. Mrs. ATKINSON, 6, Gregory Springs Road © SAVOURY POTATO SCONES. An econouaical dish using up left over Potatoes or Meat. Take some mashed potatoes and with a little flour form into scones. Mince some cold meat and spread fairly dry over one- half of a scone: turn the other on top and fry in boiling fat. Flour 1 Dessertspoon Warm Milk Pinch of Salt Mix potatoes with’milk, add warmed butter, then fiour, salt, soda, cream of tartar. Form into stiff dough, roll out and cut in rings. Bake in hot oven and serve hot. Can also be baked on hot plate. BROWN SCONES. 4lb. Brown Flour soz. Sugar loz. Fat 8 Teaspoonfuls Baking Powder 4+ Teaspoonful Salt + pt.
