SALT COD WITH TOMATO SAUCE Pick about half a poimd of salt cod in small pieces and freshen it by letting it stand five minutes in enough tepid wa- ter to cover it. Or take the shredded codfish bought in pack- ages and ready for use — although you may find it a little too salt without freshening by rinsing in cold water.
