Prize White Cake

Ingredients

• %2 eup butter
• 1 cup milk
• 2 t. baking powder
• 1 cup unbeaten egg whites
• 2 cups sugar
• 3 cups soft wheat flour
• 1 t. vanilla

Method

   Cream the butter, add 1 cup sugar and beat until the sugar dissolves; add the milk alternately with the flour, which should be sifted three or four times with the baking powder.

   Add the flavoring and fold in the egg whites beaten with the remaining cup sugar.

   This cake should, because of its high egg content, be baked in a slow oven.

   It may be baked in either layers or loaf pan.

   Any type frosting may be used.
