one-half cup sweet milk, cook this on top of stove, stirring until it thickens; then set aside to cool and add it to part two just before putting in the flour. Part Two. — One-half cup butter, one cup granulated sugar, two eggs, salt, three-fourths cup sour milk, one teaspoon soda, add part one, two cups flour. Bake in two layers and put them together with boiled frosting. C. W. C. Devil's Cake. One cup grated chocolate, two-thirds cup sugar, one-half cup sweet milk, yolk of one egg, one teaspoonful vanilla; cook the above until like a cream. When cool, mix with the following: One-half cup sugar, one-half cup butter, one-half cup sweet milk, two eggs, two cups flour, one level teaspoon soda, dissolve soda in the milk, bake in loaf or three layers; use plain boiled icing between layers.
