MOM" BRAUN'S BURNT SUGAR CAKE Place in saucepan on medium heat 1 C. sugar. Allow to brown until it almost burns, but be sure it does not burn. Add 1 C. water and allow to simmer until it dissolves in water. Set aside to cool. CAKE : 2c. Flour 2 Eggs 1 C. Sugar Milk, either dry or fresh 4C. Shortening 1 tsp. Salt 2 tsp. Baking Powder Vanilla
