MADEIRA CAKE * Ingredients : Half a pound of Flour Quarter of a pound of Butter Quarter of a pound of Castor Sugar Two Eggs Candied Peel One teaspoonful of Baking Powder. 1. Beat the butter and sugar to a cream. 2. Separate the whites and yolks of the eggs and beat separ- ately. 3. Add the yolks of the eggs and sifted flour alternately. Beat well. 4. Stir in the baking powder, and the whites of the eggs lightly. 5. Pour the mixture into a cake tin lined with greased paper and place a piece of candied peel on the top. 6. Bake in a moderate oven for one and a quarter hours.
