Lemon Patties

Ingredients

• a loaf of dry bread
• one cupful of boiling milk
• the grated peel of two lemons
• three well-beaten eggs
• one-fourth pound of butter
• two-thirds of a cupful of powdered sugar

Method

   Grate bread and pour boiling milk over it.

   When cold, mix in lemon peel and beaten eggs.

   Add butter beaten with powdered sugar.

   Butter small cups, fill with mixture, and bake for twenty minutes in a moderate oven.

   Turn out on a dish, pour over sauce, and serve.
