Gruel

Ingredients

• two cups of water
• one level teaspoonful salt
• one cup of meal

Method

1. 1

   Have water and salt boiling in a double boiler.

   Stir in the meal and boil for five minutes.

   Cover and cook for 30 to 60 minutes.

   Take one-fourth cup of mush, stir into milk or water, and strain.

5. 5

   Heat, season, and serve.
