Grandmother’s Eye-Wash

Ingredients

• three fresh eggs
• one quart of clear, cold rain-water
• half an ounce of sulphate of zinc

Method

   Break the eggs into the rain-water and stir until thoroughly mixed.

   Bring to a boil on a slow fire, stirring often; then add the sulphate of zinc and continue boiling for two minutes.

3. 3

   Set it off the fire, take the curd that settles at the bottom and apply to the eye at night with a bandage.

   Strain the liquid through a cloth for occasional eye bathing.
