Fried Apple Pies

Ingredients

• 1 qt. dried apples
• 1 lemon
• 1 tablespoonful of lard
• 1 qt. flour
• 1 tablespoonful yeast
• water to form a stiff batter

Method

   Stew dried apples and lemon together; sweeten to taste, add a little salt but no spice.

   For crust, mix lard, flour, yeast, and water to form a stiff batter, let it stand overnight.

   When ready, add a little soda, knead, roll out, cut in rounds, fill with apple, fold, trim edges, and fry in hot lard.
