English Walnut and Raisin Cake

Ingredients

• 1 cup butter
• 3 cups flour
• 2 cups sugar
• 4 eggs
• 2 lbs. seeded raisins
• 1 lb. English walnut (meats)
• 1 t-spoon Royal baking powder
• 1 t-spoon vanilla
• 114 cups milk

Method

   Cut raisins in halves and roll walnut meats fine on biscuit board with rolling pin.

   To sugar and butter creamed thoroughly together, add yolks of well beaten eggs.

   Dredge raisins and walnuts in the flour, add to above mixture with enough milk to moisten.

   Dissolve baking powder in balance of milk, add vanilla and stir well into mixture.

   Last add egg whites beaten very stiff.

   Pour in well greased tube pan and bake in moderate oven about 1 hour.
