Cheap Fruit Cake

Ingredients

• one quart of sifted flour
• a teacupful of sugar
• half a cup of butter
• one cupful of raisins
• two teaspoonfuls of cream of tartar
• one of soda
• two tablespoonfuls of mixed spices

Method

   Rub flour, cream of tartar, soda, and butter together.

   Stir in cold water to make a stiff batter, then add spices and raisins.

   Pour into a small tin pan and bake for one hour.
