Buttermilk Biscuits

Ingredients

• 4 cups flour
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 4 tablespoons shortening
• 1 teaspoon soda
• buttermilk

Method

   Mix the dry ingredients and cut in the shortening with a pastry cutter.

   Add enough buttermilk to make a soft dough which can be rolled on a floured board.

   Handle as little as possible.

   Roll out 1/4 inch thick, cut with a round cutter and put the biscuits in a greased floured pan.

   Let rise a minute and then bake in a 375 degree oven for 12 or more minutes, until light brown.

   Serve hot.
