Barley Gruel

Ingredients

• 1 tbsp barley flour
• 1 cup water or milk
• 2 tbsp cold water
• 1/4 tsp salt

Method

   Add the 2 tablespoons of cold water to the flour to make a thin paste; then add gradually to the scalded milk or boiling water while stirring constantly.

   Cook in a double boiler for 20 minutes.

   Season and strain.
