Baked Tomatoes

Ingredients

• twelve solid, smooth, ripe tomatoes
• a small, solid head of cabbage
• one onion, chop fine
• bread crumbs rubbed fine
• a teacup good sweet cream

Method

   Cut a slice from the blossom side of tomatoes and remove pulp.

   Mix cabbage, onion, bread crumbs, tomato pulp, season with pepper, salt, and sugar, and add cream.

   Fill tomatoes, replace slice, and place in a buttered baking dish with water.

   Bake for half an hour until done.
