Baked Onions

Ingredients

• medium-sized onions
• 2 tblsps. flour
• 2 tblsps. heated, bubbling butter
• a cupful of heated milk
• a beaten egg
• salt and white pepper
• fine bread crumbs

Method

   Boil onions for 15 minutes, drain, arrange in a buttered dish, sprinkle with salt and pepper.

   Stir flour into butter, add milk gradually, beat to a smooth cream, season, add egg, top with bread crumbs, and bake covered for 20 minutes, uncovering to brown.
