Baked Beans

Ingredients

• 1 pint haricot or butter beans
• 4 pint MARMITE gravy
• 1 small onion
• 1 tablespoonful treacle or golden syrup
• 2 ripe tomatoes
• 1 oz. of nut butter
• 1 teaspoonful brown sugar
• seasoning to taste

Method

   Soak beans for about 12 hours.

   Drain and put into a stewpan with enough water to cover and a little salt.

   Cook slowly until nearly tender, then transfer to a fireproof pot.

   Add MARMITE gravy, golden syrup, nut butter, sugar, onion, and tomatoes with seasoning.

   Cover and cook slowly in a hot oven for an hour or more.

   Serve hot in the casserole.
