Pour boiling water over peppers and onions and let stand five minutes, drain, and again cover with boiling water, let stand ten minutes. Drain. Add two quarts of \dnegar, five cups sugar, one tablespoon salt. Boil fifteen minutes. Pour into sterilized jars. Seal.
