Crunib dour, butter, sugar and baking poAvder. Reserve y2 cup of this mixture ; add the eggs and milk. Put in buttered pan, sprinkle with remaining half cup of mixture, and bake in a moderate oven. Date and Nut Loaf. 1 lb of stoned dates; 1 tb of nuts: 1 cup of sugar; 1 cup of flour; 4 eggs, beaten separately; 2 teaspoonfuls of baking powder; 1 teaspoonful of vanilla: % tea- spoonful of salt. Cream yolks of eggs and sugar, sift baking powder and salt into flour, stir into mixture, then fold in the beaten whites lightly, add vanilla and drop in dates and nuts a few at a time; stir well, then drop all in a loaf pan and bake slowly one hour.
