1% cup shortening
1 cup sugar
3 egg whites
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups pastry flour
3 teaspoons Royal Baking Powder
14 teaspoon salt

Cream shortening; add sugar siowly,
beating in well; add unbeaten egg whites,
one at a time, beating well after each
addition. Add flavoring. Sift together

at 350° F. about 50 minutes. For layers,
