Y. a a cars Indian Meal Griddle Cakes. _ 1 egg, 1cup of sour milk; %cup of meal; cup flour; 1 teaspoonful of sodaIndian Meal Griddle Cakes; 1 tea- spoonful of salt, Beat the eggs light, add the salt, milk, meal and flour, and the soda; dissolved in a very little hot water. Johnny Cake. . 1 cup meal, 1 cup flour, 2 tablespoonfuls — sugar, 1 egg, 2 teaspoonfuls baking — powder, nearly % cup of melted butter;_ pinch of salt and niilk enough tomake as thick as cake batter.--Mrs. Palmer. Yeast. 12 good sized potatoes; 3 tablespoonfuls _ | sugar; 3 tablespoonfuls flour; 2 table- spoonfuls salt; 2 compressed yeast cakes. Mash potatoes; mix flour, salt and sugar to a smooth paste with boiling water; add this tothe potatoes, Thin; put in6 pints of hot water; when luke-warm add yeast cakes. Let rise over night. BREAD, Take 1 pint of this Pine for a loaf of bread. Warm to blood heat; add 1table- spoonful melted lard;mix into hard loaf. Put into baking tin; let rise once and | bake. Keep yeast in cool place in open fruit cans. This will make about 8 loaves of bread.—Mrs. George Manton. Kal Dolma,. A Swedish Dish. Take one solid head of white cabbage. Boil until half done. Take up and let drain until cold. Take beef or veal and chop until fine; season with pepper, salt, butter, cream and a pinch of sugarKal Dolma, A Swedish Dish; work all together until well mixed. Then take the cabbage, cut off the large leaves taking out the head stem and in each leaf put a spoonful of the meat mixture.
