Vegetable Marrow (Stewed)

Ingredients

• A small Marrow
• Half a pint of Milk
• A blade of Mace
• A small Onion
• One dessertspoonful of Flour
• One ounce of Butter
• Pepper

Method

   Peel and cut the marrow into pieces.

   Put into a stewpan with milk, mace, and onion.

   Add pepper and boil quickly, then stew gently until tender.

   Remove onion and mace, thicken milk with flour and butter, pour over marrow, and serve hot.
