Vanilla Wafers. Pour ounces of powdered sugar and 4 ounces of butter rubbed to a cream, stir in 1 eg^, 1 teaspoon of vanilla, 3 tablespoons of milk and 4 ounces of sifted flour. Drop by spoonful on greased tin. Orange Teacakes. One cup of butter, 4 eggs, 2 cups of sugar ; take the sugar first and squeeze juice of 1 orange over it, then cream, sugar and butter together ; add' a litle nutmeg. Break the eggs into the sugar and butter ; sift 3 teaspoons of yeast powder into 3 pints of flour, then sift flour into the batter, stir until stiff. Add more flour and knead with the hands. Roll out and cut with cake-cutter. White Heather Cake. One cup granulated sugar, % cup of butter, % cup cold water, 1% cups flour, 1 teaspoon extract of almond, 1 teaspoon baking pow- der, 3 eggs.
