Tomato Soup

Ingredients

• 1 pint canned tomatoes
• 4 large raw ones
• 1 quart of boiling water
• 1 tea-spoonful of soda
• 1 pint of sweet milk
• salt
• pepper
• plenty of butter
• 8 small crackers

Method

   Boil tomatoes with water, add soda, then milk, salt, pepper, and butter.

   When boiling, add crackers and serve.

   Tastes similar to oyster soup.

TOMATO SOUP. Take i pint canned tomatoes, or 4 large raw ones, cut up fine, add i quart of boiling water, and let them boil, then add i tea-spoonful of soda, when it will foam immediately; add i pint of sweet milk with salt, pepper and plenty of butter; when this boils add 8 small crackers
