Swiss Toast

Ingredients

• one-half box of berries
• one-quarter cup of sugar
• cut five slices of stale bread
• two tablespoonfuls of butter

Method

   Mash the berries and sweeten with sugar.

   Cover each slice of stale bread with the berries.

3. 3

   Heat butter in a frying pan, carefully place the slices with berries into the hot butter, and fry slowly until browned on the underside.

   Baste the berries with butter while in the pan.

   Transfer to a hot platter and pour the remaining juice over them.

   Serve immediately.
