Stewed Beef Steak

Ingredients

• li to 21b. steak
• 1 onion
• 1 carrot
• 1 turnip
• ^ pint water
• 1| oz. butter or dripping
• 1 oz. flour
• A bunch of sweet herbs
• A sprig of parsley

Method

1. 1

   Brown steak in butter, then onion and flour.

   Gradually add water, then vegetables, herbs, and steak.

3. 3

   Simmer slowly for 2 hours.

4. 4

   Dish steak and vegetables on top or strain gravy over steak, garnishing with fancy cut carrots and turnips boiled separately.
