Soda Cake

Ingredients

• | lb. Flour.
• ^ lb. Valencia Raisins (stoned).
• £ lb. Currants.
• lb. Brown Sugar.
• 2 Eggs.
• | lb. Orange Peel.
• 1 teacupful of Milk.
• 2 oz. Butter.
• 1 teaspoonful Carbonate of Soda.
• 1 teaspoonful Ground Ginger.
• 1 teaspoonful Ground Cinnamon.
• £ a Nutmeg grated.

Method

   Mix flour, sugar, currants, raisins, orange peel, and carbonate of soda in a basin.

   Melt butter, beat eggs, and mix with butter and milk.

   Stir this mixture into the dry ingredients and mix well.

   Pour into a greased cake-tin and bake until ready, which will take at least an hour.
