RUM PUNCH. — Rub a quarter of a pound of loaf sugar over a large lemon until it has absorbed all the yellow part of the skin ; then put the sugar into a punchbowl ; add the juice of the lemon (free from pips), and mix the two well together. Pour thereon a pint of boiling water ; stir, and add half a pint of rum, half a pint of brandy, and half a teaspoonful of nutmeg
