Royal Toast

Ingredients

• Put bread toasted a delicate brown
• a piece of butter the size of a walnut
• sprinkle with sugar
• enough milk or cream to half fill the pan

Method

   Put toasted bread in a square shallow pan.

   Place a piece of butter on each slice and sprinkle with sugar.

3. 3

   Arrange in layers and pour over enough milk or cream to half fill the pan.

   Cover closely and set in a slow oven until the liquid is all absorbed.
