Plums Pickled like Olives

Ingredients

• as much vinegar as will entirely cover them
• a table-spoonful of salt
• half an ounce of mustard-seed

Method

   Boil vinegar with salt and mustard-seed.

   Pour it hot over the plums.

   Let it stand until the next day, then strain, boil again, and repeat.

   When cold, put plums into bottles, cover with vinegar, tie securely, and store in a cool, dry place.
