Old Fashioned Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

• % cup butter
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 egg
• 1% teaspoon grated lemon rind
• Y% teaspoon salt
• 1% teaspoon baking powder
• 2 cups sifted flour
• % cup milk

Method

   Cream butter and sugar thoroughly.

   Add egg, vanilla, and lemon rind.

   Beat until light and fluffy.

   Sift dry ingredients and stir into creamed mixture with milk.

   Chill half the dough for one hour.

   Roll out and cut into bars.

   Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until light brown.
