Molasses Orange Cake

Ingredients

• Butter, 1/2 cup
• Pastry flour, 2 cups
• Molasses, 1 cup
• Salt, 1 teaspoon
• Orange, 1
• Baking powder, 1y> teaspoons
• Egg, 1
• Cold water, y2 cup

Method

   Mix the butter, molasses, juice, shredded pulp and grated rind of the orange, and the egg, well beaten.

   Add the pastry flour sifted with salt and baking powder, alternately with the cold water.

   Beat well together and bake in a shallow pan in a quick oven.
