MARBLE CAKE Cream 4% pound butter, add very slowly and gradually % Ibs. flour. Beat the whites of 14 eggs very stiff. Add 1 tb sugar slowly, beating all the while. Combine the two mixtures at first by adding a spoonful of the sugar and egg mixture until it be- comes a stiff batter, and then you can beat the remaining sugar and egg more rapidly. Dissolve 4 teaspoon soda and 1 teaspoon of cream of tartar in 1 tablespoon of whiskey or water
