Halford Loaf Cake

Ingredients

• Flour 2)^ pounds.
• Sugar I ]^ pounds.
• Butter I yl pounds.
• Nutmegs 2.
• Mace % ounce.
• Eggs 2.
• Milk I pint.
• Raisins i pound.
• Distillers' or other good yeast i gill.
• Brandy, wine, and other fruit to taste.

Method

   Rub the butter into the flour at night, and have the milk warm and add the yeast, and mix it thoroughly, and set to rise in the morning.

   When light add the other articles, heat thoroughly and put in pans, and after an hour bake.
