Filled Cakes

Ingredients

• 1 cup sugar
• 2 tablespoons of shortening
• 2 beaten eggs
• 1 cup sour milk
• 1 teaspoon of soda
• 2 cups of flour

Method

   Cream together sugar and shortening; add beaten eggs, sour milk with dissolved soda, and flour.

   Mix and roll about 0.5 inch thick, cut.

   Drop into hot lard with a peeled potato to keep lard from burning; fry until dark brown and sprinkle with sugar.
