Grate X cup chocolate, X cup sweet milk, yolk of 1 egg, X cup sugar. Boil all together till a custard, then cool, mix together 1 cup sugar, X cup butter, 2 eggs beaten, X cup sweet milk, 1 teaspoon soda in a little hot water, 2 cups flour. Stir altogether, then add custard last. Bake in rather a slow oven. (White icing.) — Mrs. John Waters, Jarvis. E. M. Barup, East Pinnacle, Que., 1909, says:— The MAGNET suits me well. It is easily cleaned, turns easy and requires but little oil. BROWN CAKE.
