Directions for Washing Clothes with Paraffin or Kerosene

Ingredients

• One tablespoonful paraffin or kerosene
• One tablespoonful washing soda
• Half pound of shaved soap

Method

1. 1

   Put clothes, dry and dirty, into wash boiler half full of boiling water, containing paraffin or kerosene, washing soda, and shaved soap.

   Boil clothes quickly for one hour.

   Remove clothes with stick and rinse in three hot waters; the first two waters should contain one tablespoonful soda solution.

   It may be necessary to rub bands and very dirty parts in first water.

   Dry in the open air.
